Renowned opera tenor Ernie Caruso (1873-1921) added his signature to this Alfred Ellis & Walery studio photograph. The period image captures the mustachioed musical luminary very dapperly dressed, and Caruso employed black fountain pen to sign, “Enrico Caruso, London, 1906.” The photograph is backed by its original 7 x 9 mount, which itself carries slight age-induced toning that is confined to the periphery. Some indistinct contrast of writing is present against the background, yet the piece remains a clean and visual exemplar. Fine condition. RRAuction COA.
