Walton,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 7.75 x 12.5, February 9, 1801. An affidavit sworn before Walton as judge. In part: “William Cook, of Augusta merchant, one of the firm of William Cook & Co. being duly Sworn maketh oath and Saith that Thomas G. Holmes, under the firm of Thomas G. Holmes & Co. is justly indebted to Said William Cook & Co. the Sum of one hundred and forty-nine dollars, seventy-four Cents; and that the Said Thomas G. Holmes has absconded privately, or so conceals himself the ordinary process of Law cannot be Served upon him.” In very good condition, with toning, faint show-through of ink, and light scattered handling wear (a few small tears and chips).
