Description

“FROM HIS OLD MAN”: FDR inscribes to his son

FDR Jr. (1914–1988) earned a law degree from the University of Virginia in 1940 (his father gave his famous “Stab in the Back” speech at the commencement), served as a naval officer during World War II, and went on to a career in law and politics, serving in Congress and in the Kennedy administration. This undated, 5.5 x 9 page was long ago removed from a book that was gifted by the President to his son. In full, the inscription reads, “For Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr., with a great deal of love from his Old Man.” The page itself exhibits an irregular left edge as a result of having been removed from its book, and adhesive label remnants are situated at the top corners. Fine condition prevails, however, in this uniquely personal FDR showpiece. JSA/John Reznikoff Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
