Famed American costume designer (1903–1959) whose most famous creations were for The Wizard of Oz, including the film’s signature red-sequined ruby slippers, and other MGM films of the 1930s and 1940s. During his career, Adrian designed costumes for more than 250 films; his screen credit usually read as "Gowns by Adrian.” Three pencil signatures of the famed costume designer on individual off-white 5 x 3 cards, each bearing a button from a famous costume designed by Adrian and labeled in the collector’s hand: a Norma Shearer button from Marie Antoinette; a Joan Crawford button from Shining Hour; and a Greta Garbo button from Camille.
