Description

NIXON presents a commemorative pen to a congressman

Offered here is the ceremonial pen that was bestowed by President Richard Nixon to celebrate the establishment of a Uniformed Services University of the Heath Sciences. In a typed letter dated September 29, 1972, Nixon expressed his belief that, as a supporter of that bill, Charlie Bennett would enjoy owning this pen as a memento of the legislation becoming public law. Nixon’s familiar, “RN” initials signed the 4.5 x 6.5 page with a distinctive flair. The letter and pen are housed within a 9.5 x 12.75 shadow-box frame, and the letter itself shows insignificant areas of toning along the edges. This interesting keepsake hails from the height of the Watergate scandal, and it was actually held by President Nixon during that historic period. RRAuction COA.
