Description

To the owner of one of his most famous houses

On occasion a man of few words, American architect Frank Lloyd Wright proves that designation accurate in this rare offering. Nearly forty years after the completion of his renowned “Prairie School” design—that famously known as the Darwin D. Martin House—Mr. Martin’s wife, Isabelle Martin, seeks again to avail her family of the architect’s incomparable talents. Responding to a request made by Isabelle, Wright types on September 15, 1941, “My dear Mrs. Martin: You[r] last proposition ought to be easy. I think we can manage it. You’ll hear soon.” Frank Lloyd Wright’s identifiable, yet unusually emphatic initials (“F.LL.W”) grace the bottom of the 11 x 8.5 “Taliesin” letterhead. A few mild wrinkles, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
