Color vintage satin-finish 11 x 13.75 photo of the grinning, civilian-suited Mercury 7 astronauts posing outdoors as several onlookers watch from the building behind them, inscribed in black ink in an unknown hand “To Marc Siegal with sincere appreciation from the ‘Mercury Astronauts’” and signed vertically by M. Scott Carpenter, Leroy S. Cooper, Jr., John H. Glenn, Jr. Virgil Grissom, Walter M. Schirra, Alan B. Shepard, Jr., and Donald K. Slayton. The reverse bears a faint ink stamp from the McDonnell Aircraft Company, manufacturers of the Mercury capsule. A few minor dings and surface marks, subtle allover irregularity and very fine crazing to emulsion (visible mainly at an angle) and mild color shift to emulsion, otherwise fine condition. All of the signatures are exceptionally crisp, bold, and well contrasted. An especially handsome example of this sought-after combination—quite unusual in color and in this large size!
