The reverse of the sheet bears Lennon’s notation “Fred’s Daily Read.” The list itself reads in part (spellings retained): “(1) Hamburger for cats (2) Sardines for ever (3) Ve za ve? Vi za vi? Viz a viz? Que pasa? Book: ‘Breaktime’ B. Lefkowitz (Hawthorn Books) (4) Friday & Monday’s business mail I will leave on mantle piece in hall. (It was in bedroom for 2 days) (5) [this entry “starred”] Get info on Bimini (Carib’ Island (Bahamas) also Hawaii—yearly weather info included (6) I lent Dick Gregory a ‘conspiracy’ book two years ago—get it back—i.e. we have his address & phone number—write or call—keep on ’til you get it! Her Back Egyptian in it Ia Te (Hodder & Stroughton 1967) by Isha Schwaller de Lubica….” Dick Gregory (born 1932) is a comedian, social activist, writer and entrepreneur. Gregory performed with Lennon on “Give Peace A Chance” and was instrumental in helping Lennon kick his drug habit in 1970. Farewell America is the once-notorious look at John Kennedy's assassination and a scathing censure of the American scene in its aftermath. Light irregular toning and a touch of mild wear to bottom edge, otherwise fine condition. Of the known to-do lists by Lennon, this example ranks near the top in the amount of handwriting and provides a fascinating window into the life of the legendary musician.
