Description

Giant 1954 drawing of CHARLIE BROWN, done by Schulz at a school carnival for a contribution of 50 cents

Outstanding original vintage drawing of the early, “rounder” Charlie Brown, red-orange ink on an off-white 10.5 x 13.5 sheet, signed and inscribed “To Marc, Schulz.” Accompanied by a TLS of provenance from the original owner, who explains: “In about 1954, I attended kindergarten at Walter Hines Page Elementary School in South Minneapolis. At the time, Charles Schulz’s daughter also attended Page Elementary. Charles Schulz appeared at our local school carnival and made drawings of kids for 50 cents each, and my mother purchased this drawing of Charlie Brown for me….” Matted and framed to an overall size of 16.75 x 19.75. A few very subtle ripples, otherwise fine, bright, clean condition. A superlative example boasting an early date, unusual size, lesser-seen subject, outstanding state of preservation, and charming provenance! RRAuction COA.
