Description

Dodo Marmarosa

American pianist (1925–2002) who developed from a classically trained child prodigy into one of the most respected bebop artists of his time. Though he performed and recorded regularly in the 1940s and 1950s, his career came to an effective end in the 1960s as a result of mental illness. Uncommon DS, signed “Michael Marmarosa,” one page, 8.25 x 10.75, C. P. MacGregor Electrical Transcriptions letterhead, February 22, 1947. A “music library release” for Marmarosa’s recording of “I’m in Love.” According the consignor, the provenance includes the collection of the LA record dealer and photographer Ray Avery. A touch of subtle handling wear, otherwise very fine, clean condition. An outstanding example of a notable scarcity! RRAuction COA.
