Description

Most Likely to Succeed: Reagan signs for a grade-school classmate

One-of-a-kind glossy photo neatly trimmed in size to 8.5 x 6.75, showing Reagan standing beside a car on a studio backlot, signed in black felt tip. The original recipient’s handwritten caption on the reverse reads, “This item was signed in person by President Ronald W. Reagan for me during a personal visit with old friends in his old grade school (South Central School) on Tuesday, October 20, 1990, Dixon, Illinois-Hometown of the President.” Also on the reverse is a notation in reference to the car, as well as the handwritten caption, “Car purchased in June 1937, Dutch paid cash for it, Re: Jane Wyman, a Biography, Copyright 1985.” Also accompanied by three color candid snapshots of Reagan looking at and signing the photo at a 1990 gathering of old schoolmates. Each photo bears an applied handwritten caption recounting the meeting with Reagan, who, according to the recipient, commented after looking at the photo, “Boy, that’s an oldie!” Trimming as noted, and a few subtle dings and surface marks, otherwise fine condition. A uniquely documented photo from one of Reagan’s oldest grade-school chums. RRAuction COA.
