Description

1968: MORRISON endorses a check in the month that “Touch Me” is released

Business check from Johnson & Harband Management Account, 8.25 x 3.25, payable to Morrison for $100.00, December 23, 1968, endorsed in ballpoint on the reverse “J. Morrison.” “Touch Me” is notable for its extensive usage of brass and string instruments to accent Jim Morrison's vocals (including a powerful solo by featured saxophonist Curtis Amy), and was one of the most popular Doors songs. One of the Doors’ most famous television appearances was a performance of “Touch Me” on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour on December 15, 1968. During the performance, Morrison missed his cue for the lines “C'mon, c'mon,” and Robby Krieger could be seen with a black eye from a car accident. Bank stamp near but not touching signature, otherwise fine condition. An especially clean, handsome, well-preserved example of this scarce and desirable signature! JSA/Roger Epperson (REAL) Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
