Akihito (born 1933) served as Emperor of Japan from 1989 to the present. He married his wife, Empress Michiko (born 1934) in 1959. Color satin-finish 8 x 10 photo affixed to a 13 x 11 piece of artist’s board and matted to the same size, depicting Akihito and Michiko on a speaking platform on the tarmac at an airport, signed and inscribed in ink on the mat “Akihito” and “Michiko.” In very good condition, with mat affixed to edges of photo, a few scattered surface marks and impressions, and scattered light soiling to mat.
