Description

LADS FROM LIVERPOOL: 1963 Fab Four photo signed at the EMI Studios and proudly displayed by a true fan

Early vintage glossy 7.5 x 10 group photo of the Fab Four posing with three guitars, issued by Star Pictures in England as “SP584” in 1963, signed in blue ballpoint, “John Lennon xxx,” “Ringo Starr xxx,” “George Harrison xxx,” and “Paul McCartney xxx.” Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks. Also accompanied by a letter of provenance from an English woman, now a resident of Australia, who, as a teenager in 1963, purchased the unsigned photograph from a rack of Star Pics at her local news agent to give to her father’s employer’s niece who worked for George Martin, who in turn acquired the group’s signatures at EMI Studios. Some mild yellowing to lightly trimmed edges, poor contrast to most of McCartney’s signature (but still visible), several noticeable creases to image, one affecting small portions of three signatures, and Lennon signing over several letters of an unsuccessful first attempt at his last name, otherwise very good condition. One can imagine this photo lovingly and proudly displayed on the young adoring fan’s wall for many years, as larger size photos of the band signed on the front are quite rare.
