Accompanied by a letter of provenance on American League letterhead, signed by Dan Morrison, American League umpire #34. In full: “The Cal Ripken Jr. #8 commemorative baseball which accompanies this letter was used on the historic night in baseball history. The baseballs were produced for this special two night event only. On this night Cal Ripken Jr. became baseball’s new Iron Man with 2131 consecutive games, passing the Iron Horse, Lou Gehrig.
