Description

Celebrating Ripken’s historic achievement

Official Rawlings American League baseball, used during one of the two games Ripken broke Gehrig’s record of 2130 consecutive games played, signed in blue ballpoint by Ripken on the sweet spot; also signed by four American League umpires, Greg Kosc, Larry Barnett, Al Clark, and Dan Morrison. Accompanied by a letter of provenance on American League letterhead, signed by Dan Morrison, American League umpire #34. In full: “The Cal Ripken Jr. #8 commemorative baseball which accompanies this letter was used on the historic night in baseball history. The baseballs were produced for this special two night event only. On this night Cal Ripken Jr. became baseball’s new Iron Man with 2131 consecutive games, passing the Iron Horse, Lou Gehrig. This was truly a special night for baseball, it was a celebration of what baseball is.” In fine condition with moderate overall expected wear and soiling. JSA/Mike Gutierrez Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
