Irving Thalberg (1899–1936) was a legendary “Golden Age” Hollywood producer whose larger-than-life personality was the basis for the character Monroe Stahr in Fitzgerald’s The Last Tycoon. Louis B. Mayer (1882–1957) was a Russian-born American film producer who formed a film company in 1918 and merged with Samuel Goldwyn to form industry powerhouse Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1924. Two business checks, 1923, each filled out in type, one signed “L. B. Mayer, the other signed “I. Thalberg.” Each check is made out to the other man. In very good to fine condition, with folds and handling wear, wrinkling, bank stamps to signatures, and blotting to Mayer’s signature. RRAuction COA.
