W. H. Auden

British-American poet (1907–1973) best known for such classic verses as “September 1, 1939” and “The Age of Anxiety” and for his musical collaborations with composer Benjamin Britten. ALS, one page, 8.5 x 11, no date. Auden writes from Swarthmore, Pennsylvania to Mr. Anderson. In part: “Scatterbrain that I am, when I accepted your invitation to seafood on Friday, I forgot that I had already a long-standing (and very dull) engagement that evening in Haverford, so will have to call it off….” In fine condition, with intersecting folds (vertical fold to signature), and a few creases, wrinkles, faint spots, and tiny edge chips.
