Description

Jack Kerouac

Highly influential American writer (1922–1969) widely acknowledged as the most dynamic and brilliant figure of the “Beat” movement. His autobiographical novel, On the Road (1957) takes a place among the classics of 20th-century American literature. Bank check, 6.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Kerouac, payable to George Eddy for $1300.00, March 25, 1958. Kerouac purchased a house from Eddy in Northport, New York, where he would live with his mother for several years. Eager to protect his privacy there, Kerouac once instructed an interviewer, “I do not want mention of Northport. I still live there. I do not want carloads of Zen beatnik hipsters scouting my yard and house.” Punch cancellations away from signature, otherwise fine condition. RRAuction COA.
