I am quite sure your mother gets great satisfaction out of her garden, to pick roses up to Christmas is something to be proud of. The thing that I rejoice in most, is that my dear, handsome boy has the fundimental [sic] principals [sic] of happiness and success. The ‘Golden Rule’ if lived will settle all of our difficulties…. We would have no use for jails and other penal institutions…. I certainly want my dear boys, ‘Ralph’ and ‘Billy’ to come as a Christmas gift. This is all I want from you.
