Jean-Paul Sartre

Highly influential French writer and philosopher (1905–1980), most closely associated with existentialism, who refused the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1964. ANS in French, signed “J. Sartre,” one page on a 8.25 x 10.5 sheet of graph paper, no date. In part (translated): “Lotta Continua [a newspaper] is about to be banned…. Freedom of the revolutionary press is once more at stake. I am calling on Italian writers … to take on the direction of the paper, individually or collectively.” Intersecting folds (lightly touching signature) and a few mild wrinkles, otherwise fine condition.
