For one glorious decade, 1945-55, Agganis was the finest athlete in New England. He is No. 27 on the Boston Globe’s list of the top 100 New England sports figures of the century. When he died in June 1955 of a pulmonary embolism, New England was staggered. He was 26. Vintage ink signature, “Harry Agganis,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2 card.
