American humorist and author (1894–1961) best known for such stories as “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and for his distinctive, wittily captioned cartoon drawings published in the New Yorker. TLS signed in pencil “J. Thurber,” one page, 8.5 x 11, May 29, 1950. Thurber writes to Mrs. M. W. Krasilovsky in Juneau, Alaska. In full: “I will try to get a tear sheet of that drawing when I get to New York and sign it and send it to you. I have no decent originals left, alas. Thanks for your kind words and or the all too brief meeting in the Algonquin, and best wishes to you and your husband….” Intersecting mailing folds (touching signature), file holes, and mild toning and handling wear, otherwise fine condition.
