TLS, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, September 22, 1939. Ford writes to Basil O’Connor, FDR’s former law partner, in New York City. In part: “It has been a great pleasure for me to have been associated with the National Association for Infantile Paralysis as a member of the Board of Directors and also of the Executive Committee for the 1939 Celebration of the President’s Birthday…. There has been a slight epidemic of infantile paralysis in Detroit and vicinity during the past summer, starting early in July and letting up only slightly at present. This epidemic has seriously engaged the notice and interest of a great many people who heretofore had paid very little attention to the disease, and I am sure that there will be more interest in the National Foundation in the future in this area….” A few creases and wrinkles, otherwise fine condition.
