British admiral and statesman (born 1900), uncle of Prince Philip, and Supreme Allied Commander in Southeast Asia during World War II, who was killed by an IRA bomb in 1979. Two items: 1966 TLS, enclosing his autograph and including a handwritten salutation and closing, signed “Mountbatten of Burma”; and an ink signature, “Mountbatten of Burma, A.F.,” on a pale gray 6 x 4 slip.
