Born Archibald Alexander Leach in Bristol, England, Cary Grant (1904–1986) was rechristened with his more familiar name by Paramount Studios for his 1932 big-screen debut. Early matte-finish sepia 7 x 8.75 photo by James Hargis Connelly, Chicago, signed and inscribed in ink, “To Dorothy Ann—With all good wishes, Archie Leach, Municipal Opera, 1931.” Matted and framed with an explanatory plaque to an overall size of 13.25 x 17.75.
