August von Wasserman

German bacteriologist (1866–1925) best known for his research into syphilis, for which he developed the eponymous test for its detection. TLS signed “A. v. Wassermann,” one page, 9 x 11.5, Kaiser Wilhelm-Institut für Experimentelle Therapie letterhead, March 16, 1923. Wassermann writes to the editor of the Berliner Börsen-Courier. In part: “I sincerely regret my being unable to comply with your request for an article for your Easter issue.” Brushing to signature, intersecting mailing folds, and mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition.
