American actor (1896–1937) who, as a vaudeville impresario, assembled the act that evolved into the Three Stooges. The tumultuous relationship between Healy and his star trio, fueled largely by Healy’s heavy drinking, led to several rifts and reconciliations, until the Stooges struck out on their own for good in 1934.
