Eminent Viennese composer (1825–1899), aka the “Waltz King,” best known for such all-time favorites as “The Beautiful Blue Danube” and the “Emperor Waltz” and for the operetta staple, “Die Fledermaus”. Fine, boldly penned AMQS on a pale green 7 x 4.75 album page, approximately two measures from, “On the Beautiful Blue Danube”, signed “Johann Strauss, Boston.” Strauss visited the U.S. in 1872 and led wildly successful performances in New York and Boston. Two light vertical folds (not touching writing) and mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition. A lovely example from this most familiar and beloved of classics!
