Description

Connie Mack

Once a catcher, but made his mark as a manager. After a stint at the helm of Pittsburgh, he assumed control of the Philadelphia Athletics in 1901 and continued for 50 years until retirement at the age of 88. Mack is best remembered as a dignified, scorecard-waving leader in a business suit, who won five World Series crowns and built two dynasties. Official J. C. Higgins Fireball baseball signed in blue ink on the sweet spot, “Connie Mack.” Ball is also signed on a side panel by Paul Richards. Signatures presumably date from 1935, as this was the only years Richards was associated with the Philadelphia Athletics. In very good condition, with first name of signature a shade or two lighter than last name, even overall toning to ball, scattered light scuffs and dings, and some light wrinkling near seams. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
