American writer (1832–1911) best known for such verses as “Rock Me to Sleep, Mother.” AQS on a cream 4.25 x 3.25 card, signed “Elizabeth Akers.” A passage from her poem “Rock Me to Sleep.” In full: “Clasped to your heart in a loving embrace, With your light lashes just sweeping my face, Never hereafter to wake or to sleep, Rock me to sleep, mother—rock me to sleep!” In very fine condition.
