Description

Genius at work, do not disturb

Eminent British writer (1866–1946) who pioneered the science fiction genre with such classic novels as The Time Machine, War of the Worlds, and The Invisible Man. ALS in French, one page both sides, 7 x 8.75, personal Easton Glebe, Dunmow letterhead, June 5, 1925. Wells writes from Grasse, France to an unnamed gentleman, observing that his last letter, in English, may have been misunderstood, that he does not receive visitors while he is working, and that if he made an exception in this case, he would be compelled to do so in other cases. Intersecting folds, faint adhesive traces to right edge of second page, and a marginal smudge to the first page, otherwise fine, bright condition. R&R COA.
