Description

FURRY FOURSOME: Scarce “Rabbit Family” print signed by BEATRIX POTTER

British author and illustrator (1866–1943) whose Edwardian-era tales of naughty rabbits, “bad” mice, and other amusingly mischievous animals take a place among the most enduring and beloved works in the annals of children’s literature. Her first and best-known book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, has sold more than 40 million copies since it was first published in 1902. Color print of Mother Rabbit tending to one of her sick children as two others look on, 3.25 x 3.75 on its original 4 x 5.5 heavy card mount with the printed sentiment “Greetings,” signed and inscribed in ink on the mount, “To Mary and Hettie from Beatrix Potter.” Light soiling to mount (very faint staining to right edge), otherwise fine condition. A scarce format for Potter, and splendid for display! Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
