American army officer (1860–1948) who was Commander of the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during World War I and one of the most celebrated soldiers in American history. Matte-finish 9.5 x 13.5 Pach Bros. photo inlaid and partly affixed to a slightly larger sheet, signed in ink “John J. Pershing.” In very good condition, with a few creases (touching chest; breaks at lower right corner repaired from reverse), silvering to dark portions, and mild soiling. R&R COA.
