Description

Robinson hits the ground running after his retirement

Vintage ballpoint signature, “Jackie Robinson,” on an off-white 8.5 x 3.5 slip, clipped from a larger letter from Robinson, serving as chairman of the 1957 Freedom Fund, concerning the Ellington-Rickey Testimonial Dinner. Robinson was deeply concerned with the struggle for civil rights. Starting in 1957, he traveled extensively to raise funds for the NAACP. These efforts led to close relationships with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other prominent leaders. In fine condition, with three vertical folds, and some mild toning along bottom. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
