Dwight D. Eisenhower

TLS, one page, 6 x 8, Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Force letterhead, June 17, 1944. Eisenhower writes to Mrs. J. H. Mason in Des Moines. In full: “I shall be happy to comply with your request and am enclosing my new shoulder sleeve insignia [not present]. Thank you so much for your good wishes.” Also included is a vintage ink signature, “[Sir Arthur] Tedder,” (1890–1967; Deputy Supreme Commander under Eisenhower) on a card with affixed postage stamp, as well as a 1945 TLS from Kay Summersby (1908–1975; Ike’s personal driver and secretary with whom he carried on an affair from 1942–45), sending thanks on Ike’s behalf to a well wisher. Accompanied by the original mailing envelopes for the letters. In very good to fine condition, with toning and light wrinkling to Eisenhower letter, and indistinct contrast of Tedder signature against stamp. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
