Duane Allman (1946–1971), a session musician and founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, is regarded as one of the most masterful and influential guitarists in rock history. He was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 24. Berry Oakley (1948–1972), a bass player and another founding member of the band, died following a motorcycle accident in Macon, Georgia just three blocks from where Duane met his demise a year earlier. Two business checks drawn on the Allman Brothers Band General Account, 8.25 x 3, 1970, each filled out in an unknown hand, one signed “Duane Allman,” the other signed “Raymond Berry Oakley.” Usual bank stamps (faint show-through of stamps to reverse behind signatures), otherwise fine, clean condition. COA Roger Epperson/REAL and R&R COA.
