American actor (1921–2002) who, after appearing in well-regarded action and western roles, came to specialize in such B fare as Tarantula, The Mole People, and Brain from the Planet Arous. He earned a further footnote in Hollywood lore as the first husband of Shirley Temple, to whom he was married from 1945 to 1950. Three items: glossy 8 x 10 photo, signed in blue felt tip “God bless, John Agar, ‘Revenge of the Creature’”; and two ink and felt tip sketches on individual 8 x 11 sheets, one each signed “Tarantula, God Bless, John Agar” and “Brain from the Planet Arous, John Agar.” In very fine condition.
