Impressive autograph album, 6.25 x 9, circa 1895–99, housed in a beautful custom binding (gilt-stamped “St. Yves, 350 Rue St. Honore” on the front pastedown) featuring dark brown polished morocco with blind-stamped monogram “M. de M.” on the front cover, decorative gilt turn-ins, a five-compartment spine, all edges gilt, and marbled endpapers, signed by more than 50 monarchs, royal family members, and other dignitaries, many adding the date and place. Among those represented: Victoria; Albert Edward (the future Edward VII) and his wife; Queen Alexandria; Czar Nicholas II and Alexandra (the last czar and czarina who, with their children, were imprisoned and executed in the wake of the Russian Revolution); Ferdinand; Victoria, Grand Duchess of Hesse; Alfred of Coburg; Helena and her daughter Victoria; Henri de Battenburg; Charles of Denmark; Frederick, Prince Royal of Denmark; Grand Duke Michel de Russie; Emperor Frederick of Prussia; and members of the Thai royal family, including Prince Paribata and Maha Vajiravudh (the future King of Siam). Other, non-royal, signers include composer Camille Saint-Saëns, Colonel R. L. Slatin, and Major F. R. Wingate. The album also includes several signers in other languages. Mild rubbing and a few scuffs to covers, scattered faint spotting, and two previous owners’ names to front blank, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
