Engraving of a patriotic device including an eagle with a banner reading “E Pluribus Unum,” American flags, a shield, and a cannon reading “Secretary of War” on the muzzle, printed in light brown on an off-white 6.5 x 9 sheet, boldly signed “Jeffer. Davis”; the sheet has also been signed by Wm. Wilkins, Secretary of War from 1844 to 1845. (Davis held the office from 1853 to 1857.)
