Seeking a religious viewpoint on the League of Nations

TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 8.25 x 11, League to Enforce Peace letterhead, January 13, 1919. Taft writes to Dr. Frank W. Gunsaulus at the Armour Institute in Chicago. In part: “I hope you can arrange to present the interest of religion and the church in a League of Nations at a Congress on this subject that will be held under the auspices of the league to Enforce Peace in Chicago…. The occasion and purpose of the meeting are set forth in a general invitation signed in facsimile by about twenty-five well-known men and women and in the announcement of the entire series of nine Congresses, of which the Great Lakes Congress is one….” Intersecting mailing folds and a few tiny tears, otherwise fine condition.
