Bold ink signature (probably a free frank), “J. Hancock,” on a 4.75 x 3.25 (panel size) postal cover addressed in his hand to the Hon. Council of Safety of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. A docket on a flap identifies the original item as “from the Prest. of Congress, Baltimore, February 11, 1777.” In very good to fine condition, with a touch of mild soiling, a light block of toning over much of the writing, two vertical folds (one to “H”), and mild wrinkling. Infrequently seen in this format! Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
