In full: “I thank you for the letter and I thank you for the poem; and I don’t think you [handwritten emendation: need fear that you went too far!]. With heartiest congratulations upon the admirable work of citizenship and Americanism you are doing, I am….” After signing, Roosevelt adds a handwritten postscript: “I have just met that fine fellow your son, at Fort Totten.” Intersecting mailing folds (vertical fold to last letter of first name), a few marginal wrinkles, and paperclip stain to top edge, otherwise fine condition.
