Franking signature as secretary of state, “M. Van Buren,” on an 8 x 3.75 (panel size) postal cover addressed in another hand to Joshua Gilpin “near Wilmington,” Delaware, bearing a “FREE” ink stamp. One of the flaps is docketed in another hand March 4, 1831. In good condition, with small edge tears, soiling, and wrinkling. The signature itself is dark and generally unaffected.
