Description

Einstein endorses a check for his Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists

Endorsed bank check, 8 x 3, filled out in another hand and signed by by Lewis M. Isaccs, Jr., payable to the Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists for $5.00, dated December 6, 1947, and endorsed on the reverse, “A. Einstein.” In very good condition, with several vertical creases, a bit of light skipping to signature, expected stamps and holes, small edge tear, and tape remnants along left edge. The Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists was founded by Albert Einstein and Leó Szilárd in 1946. As a founding representative of the organization, it was no doubt incumbent upon Einstein to accept payment on behalf of the group. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
