Description

“I probably would have been lost in modern art with my temperament and experience, my Dickensian view of people.”

TQS entitled My Adventures as an Illustrator, one page 6 x 8. Rockwell recounts an early decision regarding his art instruction. In part, “It’s queer how important decisions…are sometimes made haphazardly. My first day I was standing at the bulletin board trying to decide whom I should take life class with; George Bridgeman or Kenneth Haynes Miller…If I had signed up with Mr. Miller, I might be a modernist now. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t because my ability evidently lies in telling stories and modern art doesn’t go for that sort of thing. I probably would have been lost in modern art with my temperament and experience, my Dickensian view of people.” Signed at the conclusion in blue ballpoint. In very fine condition. R&R COA.
