Description

Vintage pencil signature and inscription, “To Lily, May I express my gratitude. Sincerely yours, Mrs. Frankenstein alias Myrna Loy,” on a light blue album page; and a fountain pen signature and inscription, “To one Lily from another (a black one), William Powell,” on an off-white album page. Both are matted together with a photo of the couple from one of their films, to an overall size of 14 x 18. Originally obtained by Hollywood hair stylist Lily Dirigo, who worked for Universal and other movie studios and counted many celebrities among her friends and clients; the signature comes directly from her estate. Her best-known (though uncredited) job was as stylist for the multiple-Oscar winning film Around the World in Eighty Days. Dirigo’s daughter, Carmen, was also an award-winning stylist who worked on such classics as The Killers and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. In fine condition, with a few small wrinkles to Loy’s page. R&R COA.
