Description

Praising Wiesenthal on a prestigious honor: “It is entirely fitting that one who has devoted his life to the pursuit of justice for those who suffered the ultimate of human indignity and torture”

TLS signed “Gerald R. Ford,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, January 19, 1980. Ford writes to noted Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal before accepting an award. In part: “The Eddie Cantor Charitable Foundation Award carries great meaning and prestige. It is entirely fitting that one who has devoted his life to the pursuit of justice for those who suffered the ultimate of human indignity and torture should be chosen as this year’s recipient of this coveted Award. You will receive many tributes this evening but the Center for Holocaust Studies bearing your name is the most eloquent statement of the world’s respect for you as a person and for the successes you have achieved.” In fine condition, with a touch of light toning along bottom. R&R COA.
