FDC with a cachet honoring the first men on the moon and the Apollo 11 mission, signed on the front in black ink by Armstrong. Accompanied by a 1971 TLS from Armstrong’s secretary to the original recipient, Leo Roth, acknowledging the cover, and noting that Armstrong signed only one of two sent, “because of the widespread commercial use of these philatelic items.” Also included is an additional letter of provenance, stating that Leo Roth was an employee of NASA from the early 1960s until his retirement, and that he worked on the Mercury and Apollo programs. The letter goes on to state that due to his ability to acquire authentic space signatures, Roth would go on to contribute to a book on astronaut autopens. In very fine condition.
