Flight-flown commemorative cover, 6.5 x 3.5, bearing postmarks from California, Mexico, and New Jersey, signed in the upper left blank area in Earhart’s diminutive hand, “Carried by air, Amelia Earhart.” In fine condition, with some expected light soiling. On April 20, 1935, Earhart flew from Los Angeles to Mexico City in 13 hours and 32 minutes, carriying a small number of covers with her. On May 8 she left Mexico for a nonstop solo flight to Newark, New Jersey. Besides the covers bearing the Mexican overprint stamp she carried a few of the covers she had flown from Los Angeles, re-addressed, re-stamped, and re-registered. All of the covers, whose quantities remain unknown, were signed by Earhart and backstamped in Newark upon her arrival there, 14 hours and 18 minutes after leaving Mexico. A wonderful opportunity to own a fascinating piece of eary aviation history. R&R COA.
