In 2006, a copy of his 1904 photograph “The Pond—Moonlight” sold at auction for $2.9 million, setting a new record for the medium. Satiny matte-finish 7.25 x 9.5 photo of the older Steichen, signed in ballpoint “Edward Steichen, 1964.” In very good condition, with scattered dings and small creases (touching face), slightly irregular ink flow, and a few spots of skinning to reverse.
